Eclampsy

33 year old woman, second pregnancy, primipara, gestational age of fetus 32+3, comes to your gynaecological practice. She complains of hardening abdomen and stomach ache with maximal intensity at right subcostal area, leg oedema and headache. Preferring natural pregnancy progression and delivery, she doesn´t come to regular check-ups. She lives with her husband at a large farm, breeding many animals. Her current problems last for 5 weeks and because of these troubles, she is unable to do hard work at a farm. She tried to treat herself with herbs such as melissa and mint. Herb infusions and baths improved her leg oedema. What kind of examination do you do?
We respect the expectant mother´s alternative lifestyle and perform only ultrasound screening with a scheduled check-up in 14 days. We prescribe diuretics for oedema and hypertension.
Hardening and painfull abdomen is a symptom of onset of delivery, that’s why we transport the patient to the delivery room and refer her to the midwife’s care.
We take the blood pressure and provide complete gynaecological examination (including speculum, amnioscopy, fetal sounds). We also take blood sample for statim biochemistry and haematology and urine test.
