Although this year's Czech winter was above-average in temperature, a five-member delegation from Brno did not hesitate to immerse themselves in the tropical atmosphere of Southeast Asia, where the 18th World Congress of Anaesthesiologists was held in the heart of one of the most modern cities in the world. The equatorial city-state of Singapore became the meeting place for experts from around the world for several days, sharing the latest knowledge, research, and technological innovations in the field of anesthesiology and intensive care medicine.

The reporting team from Akutně.cz has arrived in Prague and we had a packed schedule attending the eagerly anticipated ČSARIM 2023 congress, which we've been looking forward to all year. We bring you this year's selection of lectures, highlights, and updates from acute and intensive medicine.

Dear Akutně.cz portal followers and supporters of intensive medicine, we welcome you to the 26th edition of Colours of Sepsis, which is once again taking place in Ostrava, at the Clarion Congress Hotel. We had 5 days full of interesting lectures and workshops, which are now brought closer to you through our reporters eyes. Lets dive in!

We are proud that, through this report, we can at least virtually transport you to the center of events. Yes, you guessed it right. It is November, specifically the 25th of November, and the jubilee fifteenth annual conference of the largest one-day conference in the field of AIM in the Czech Republic - the AKUTNĚ.CZ Conference is taking place at the University Campus in Bohunice.

In November 2023, one of the world's largest conferences in the field of anesthesiology took place. Anesthesiology 2023, under the patronage of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, unfolded in the beautiful city of San Francisco. Though not in person, at least in a virtual form, the AKUTNĚ.CZ team had the opportunity to hear new insights from the foremost experts in their field.

Education platform AKUTNĚ.CZ  celebrates its 16th birthday- during these years we brought you an enormous amount of information regarding acute care medicine and we go on. We present our newest algorithms, which were created during the academic year 2022/2023.  This time it is a revision of the original older algorithms, aimed at resuscitation of children and adults. All have been peer-reviewed and meet the 2021 European Resuscitation Council guidelines. Celebrate your birthday with us and refresh yourself on how to properly resuscitate!  

Education platform AKUTNĚ.CZ delivers a present for International Children´s Day: the first round of 6 new algorithms, which were created during the academic year 2022/2023. Teams of  clinicians and students  from Brno and Ostrava took part in the creation process . The algorithms were reviewed by the expert in the field.  

Report team AKUTNĚ.CZ set off to sunny Glasgow in Scotland to monitor the events at Euroanaesthesia 2023 from June 3rd to 5th. We bring you a glimpse of the congress from the perspective of individual participants.

At the congress center in Lisbon, we were welcomed by the president of SESAM, Francisco Maio Matos. He thanked the scientific committee for organizing the congress, as well as the organizers and participants. It was repeatedly emphasized that SESAM and its annual meeting are primarily about people coming together and building a community, not just about the professional aspect of the congress. This year, the congress is being attended by over 1000 delegates from 51 countries, including 32 delegates from Ukraine, who are invited guests of the company.

As is annually expected, we present you (from the position of media partner of the conference) with an online report from this year of The Colours of Sepsis. Our reporting team had the pleasure of attending the 25th-anniversary conference, which is one of the biggest conferences being held in the Czech Republic. Generally, the overall theme is regularly dedicated to Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine. The targeted audience is primarily doctors, nurses and other healthcare personnel in the field. However, dedicated medical students are welcomed as well.

Teams of 22 clinicians and 27 students took part in the creation process, as a part of an Individual Project at Masaryk University Faculty of Medicine and Medical faculty in Ostrava and took 9 months. The algorithms were reviewed by the expert in the problematic field.  

On 4-6 June 2022, the largest European anaesthesiology congress - Euroanaestheisa 2022 - took place in Milan, Italy. 

The AKUTNĚ.CZ reporting team travelled to sunny Milan, Italy, to monitor the events of Euroanaesthesia 2022 on 4-6 June. Meanwhile it was supported by a team that watched the event online, taking an advantage in the hybrid form of this congress. 

This year SESAM conference was visited by 750 participants, it was held from 15th to 17th June in Sevilla, Spain. There were 9 keynote presentations, Z42 workshops and 71 parallel sessions delivered with 112 hours of specialized content. The delegation from the Czech Republic both from Prague and Brno was numerous.

The Colours of Sepsis is one of the biggest annually organized conferences in the Czech Republic. It has a postgraduate focus and is intended for doctors and nurses who deal with intensive care. We are pleased to announce that after an unwanted break, we were able to attend this year's Colours of Sepsis in person. From the Clarion Congress Hotel in Ostrava, a large AKUTNĚ.CZ reporting team heartily greets you and is happy to bring you news from this year's congress.

Teams of 35 clinicians and 27 students took part in the creation process, as a part of an Individual Project at Masaryk University Faculty of Medicine and took 9 months. The algorithms were reviewed by the expert in the problematic field.  The creation process was, like everything else, affected by the worldwide pandemic situation. Teams managed perfectly the cooperation, even though the personal contact was limited.  We are very much looking forward to next year and new algorithms-hopefully in a traditional way.

This year’s Euroanaesthesia, was held virtually during the 28 th till 30 th November and proved to be an engaging and educational congress for our many attendees. With over 5,500 participants, 160 Scientific sessions, 353 Speakers from 43 countries, 770 abstracts,it was a succesful event.

The AKUTNĚ.CZ portal brings you another expressively developed, very up-to-date algorithm: Anaesthesia of a COVID-19 positive patient developed by the team of doctors of AKUTNĚ.CZ portal: Deana Slovjaková, MD and Eva Klabusayová, MD; on the basis of the recommendations Czech Society of Intensive Medicine and the Australian Society of Anesthesiologists. The algorithm was reviewed by a dr. Kutěj from University Hospital Ostrava.

The AKUTNĚ.CZ portal brings you an expressively developed, very up-to-date algorithm: Resuscitation of a COVID-19 positive patient developed by the team of doctors of AKUTNĚ.CZ portal: Martina Kosinova, MD, PhD,  Tereza Prokopová, MD and Tamara Skříšovská, MD on the basis of the recommendations of the British Resuscitation Council and the Surviving Sepsis Campaign were respected. The algorithm was reviewed by a member of the European Resuscitation Council - Jana Djakow, MD, PhD.

For the twenty-second time, those being cought in the mysteries intensive medicine, have gathered in the heart of North Moravia region. The halls of the Clarion Congress Hotel in Ostrava resonate with the strongest themes in the field. This year the XXVI. Congress of Czech Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine (CSARIM) was held in Brno's Exhibition Center.

Next year the Congress will be connected with the 17 th World Congress of Anesthesia (5-9 September 2020). Nobody should miss the oppoturnity to be a part of this world-class venture.

Again, after less than a year, we had the opportunity to visit one of the world's best anesthesiologic events - Euroanaesthesia 2019. Thanks to a meeting in nearby Vienna this year, 52 anaesthesiologists participated.

This year was the Course of Emergency Medicine (KUM)  hold during the weekend 13 th and 14 th of April. It was softly drizzling when the ambulances, fireman and water rescue servises approached University Campus Bohunice.  When the sirens got silent, you could hear the roar of motorcycles. Everyone was here, eager to teach the participants potentially the most of their Urgent Medicine knowledge.

Lectures, workshops, competitions...but most importantly friendly athosphere and heaps of useful information

Next year we will happily celebrate the 10 th jubilee Course of Emergency Medicine! 

Ostrava  hosted fabulous congress Colours of Sepsis, this year from the 28 th January till 1 st February.

The program included postgraduate lectures, practical workshops and lessons, experts encounter, pro-con discussions, lectures on basic intensive medicine as well as panel discussion and poster section.

The amazing uprdrade for this year was reports from all main happenings accross the sections.

European Society of Anaesthesiology Council Meeting and ESA Focus Meeting 2018 took place this year in Sophia.  This meeting covered  interesting topics about perioperative complications, mainly perioperative bleeding and solved many ESA organizational tasks.
Next year the ESA Focus Meeting will be in Rome, 15.-16.10 2019.

We are pround to  write these words about the jubilee 10 th annual conference of AKUTNE.CZ, which was held on the 17 th of November in Brno.

More than 1100 participans, 59 lectures and 51 workshops, all free of admission make this conference unique of its kind certainly in the Czech Republic and also in Europe. 

Thanks to all the volunteers we will be happy to see you again nest year on the 16 th of November 2019.

ESA masterclass on Scientific Publication took place in Athens from 23^rd to 25^th October 2018. 18 participants from countries like Greece, Czech Republic, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Italy and some others joined the masterclass this year to learn from John Carpenter who lead us over the 3 day period.

Portal AKUTNE.CZ, which is the media partner of the 17th Colours of Sepsis Ostrava brings you a report and on-line stream from selected lectures which were mostly presented in english. Congress took place in Clarion hotel Ostrava from 27th and 30th January 2015.

Portal AKUTNE.CZ annually organizes two key events: Emergency Medicine Course for senior medical students and AKUTNĚ.CZ Congress focused on senior medical students and young physicians with an interest in emergency medicine. You can read about both events and about teaching using simulations in acute medicine in editorial in second volume of MEFANET Journal 2014 called Experience-based teaching of acute medicine for extra motivated medical students and young physicians – 4th Emergency Medicine Course and 6th AKUTNĚ.CZ Congress.

We are happy to present you algorithms created in the year 2014 by students of Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk Univerzity together with physicians from educational portal AKUTNE.CZ, reviewed by specialist from all over the Czech Republic. We have created 11 interactive algorithm which you can find either here or in the educational part of the portal.

The onset of autumn sleet and depression was brightened by the 6th year of an already traditional event: the Congress AKUTNĚ.CZ. Beside the main section, there were two parallel sections focusing on nursing staff and on hot topics in anaesthesiology (toys for anaesthesiologists, anaesthesiology case reports from delivery room, simulation in acute medicine). This year's novelty was a Section "Simulation in acute medicine" where two foreign speakers took part in. Here you can find their presentations in PDF and video.

This year's congress had a record attendance of more than 720 participants (446 in medical section; 150 of them were medical students), who could choose among 26 presentations in the medical section, and 16 presentations in the section for nursing staff. Two of the presentations were in english.

To light your rainy days of summer holiday  AKUTNE.CZ team brings you 8 new algorithms dedicated to, among other topics obstetric anesthesia, acute treatment in pulmonology, newborn resuscitation, airway management and other acute conditions.

As traditionally, the algorithms were created right at the beginning before the publication in bilingual version (Czech/English) and were peer reviewed.

Euroanaesthesia took place at Stockholm, Sweden for this year. You could have met there the best of the european and even world most known specialists in anaesthesia. In addition to the invited lectures and presentations of all the comittees of the ESA in the course of three days were also presented over a thousand abstracts as posters of latest research in anaesthesia, intensive care, pain and emergency medicine, including also 6 representatives of the Czech Republic.

Euroanaesthesia 2014 comprised of 6 pre-congress courses, 23 refresher courses, 68 symposia, 4 workshops, 3 interactive sessions, 11 lectures, 2 meet the expert sessions, 12 pro-con debates, 2 postgraduate courses as well as several guest sessions and specialist society meetings.

Ot the 7th october there was online published article článek "AKUTNE.CZ algorithms and SEPSIS-Q scenarios as interactive tools for problem based learning sessions in medical education"in MEFANET Journal. This article summarizes the methodological aspects of case reports based learning in acute medicine. It also points out already established tools especially interactive algorithms of AKUTNE.CZ and educational scenarios of SEPSIS-Q for problem based lectures. It shows appropriate implementation of this kind of tool to master and bachelor programs lectures. The last part of the article summarizes the evaluation questionnaires.

JMIR is the leading peer-reviewed eHealth/mHealth journal (Impact Factor: 4.7), ranked #1 in Medical Informatics, and #2 in Health Sciences/Health Services Research. Portal AKUTNE.CZ, which is the media partner of the 15th Postgraduate Course on Sepsis and MODS, brings you selected video recordings of presented English lectures.

The English version of multimedia resources has been created on AKUTNE.CZ. Central venous line placement and radial artery cannulation are the first two topics translated from the original Czech version.

Algorithmization and procedural management of the therapeutic process has become very popular as quality management systems have developed and health care quality has been assessed. It is obvious that a procedurally-thinking physician can react more efficiently, promptly and economically to critical situations which are so abundant in acute medicine. The interactive educational algorithms on the portal AKUTNE.CZ have been developed with the aim of simulating decision processes in acute patients.

The team of portal AKUTNE.CZ will traditionally visit The postgraduate Course on Sepsis and MODS which takes place in Clarion Congress Hotel Ostrava in January 2012 and will bring you the on-line stream from Congress hall and on-line report from whole Course. It is dedicated to postgraduate education of healthcare practitioners in intensive care medicine. The Course is organised by the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care and Department of Paediatric Intensive Care of University Hospital Ostrava, Czech Republic. The head of the organisational committee is Roman Kula, MD, PhD. Since 2004, the Course is organised under the patronage of University Hospital Ostrava and Czech and Slovak Forum for Sepsis, and since 2005 in co-operation with scientific and medical societies of Czech Medical Association J. E. Purkyne and Slovak Medical Association.
