You are a general practitioner and Mrs Zemánková comes to you complaining of a long-lasting headache. From her history you find that she is a 37-year-old teacher at a primary school where she is currently a class teacher. She has two young daughters at home. What course of action should you not take?
I will focus mainly on the location of the pain, its intervals, and positions that provide relief.
I will ask about the character of the pain, when it started, and what makes it worse.
I will perform a physical examination of the head and neck.
After taking the history, I will advise the patient to get plenty of sleep, reduce stress and call her back in a week.
