Arrival

It is morning, and you are a physician in the hospital's Emergency Department. Paramedics bring in a 10-year-old boy following a fall from a tree. They were called by neighbors who had seen the boy climbing the tree. Suddenly, a branch broke beneath him, and he fell from a height of approximately 3 meters directly onto his head and right side. "The neighbors state that he cried for a short time after the fall, but then 'fell asleep' and could not be awakened. We have no further information; no one else was present during the fall," the paramedic says, handing you a slip of paper with the mother's phone number. First, you secure the patient according to the ABCDE approach and perform a basic examination and stabilization of vital functions.
