Colours of sepsis is one of the biggest annually organized conferences in the Czech Republic. It has a postgraduate focus and is intended for doctors and nurses who deal with intensive care. We are pleased to announce that after an unwanted break, we were able to attend this year's Colours of Sepsis in person. From the Clarion Congress Hotel in Ostrava, a large AKUTNĚ.CZ reporting team heartily greets you and is happy to bring you news from this year's congress.
Whole conference lasted from 26.4. to 29.4.2022. It contained various of topics from cardiology, immunology, surgery, pediatrics, internal medicine, etc. All of that from an intensive care medicine perspective. Topics were organised into blocks of presentations with interesting speakers who are experts in their fields. Lectors were not only from the Czech Republic, but we could see guests from different European countries too, such as Slovakia, Germany, Spain, United Kingdom, Hungary, Denmark, Austria and Sweden.
There were not only presentations. Hosts took an active approach in organisation of this congress. Participants could ask questions after each presentation so the discussion about topics was encouraged.
They implemented also elements of active learning in the form of a workshops. In these workshops the theoretical part was followed by practical training of individual skills on model figurines. Team AKUTNĚ.CZ contributed with their abilities and organised workshop called: „How to not have a difficult day easily “. A set of six presentations was focused on repetition of basic techniques of airway management, overview of the procedures used during an exceptionally difficult airway management, intraosseous vascular access and fibrooptic intubation.
The event was not just about knowledge and medicine. The organizers also prepared a rich evening program. The hosts, lecturers and guests could get to know each other not just from the presentations but from their personal side of life and had a little chat during the dinner. There was also an after party which took place in the Garage club Ostrava with live music on Thursday night so the participants could unwind a little from their everyday troubles and have a great time.
All good things must come to an end, and the same goes for Colours of Sepsis 2022. On behalf of the reporting team, we say goodbye to you and thank all the speakers and organizers for another great experience and the opportunity to finally meet everyone after 2 years. We can't wait for Colours of Sepsis 2023!
