Do you want to know the best news from AIM? Do not be shy and read our report from 25th Congress of Czech Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine

As usual, the conference was opened by dr. Cvachovec, which gladly welcomed all participants. The very pleasant following duty was the awarding for the last year science work. Among others dr. Kosinova has was awarded for her thesis Rocuronium versus suxamethonium for rapid sequence induction of general anaesthesia for caesarean section: influence on neonatal outcomes.

Except for the usual main sections for doctors and nurses, three parallel and one workshop sections took place. Participants could visit educational lectures, E-poster section, historical section or the Education and soft skills section, which also included a presentation of simulation education or AKUTNĚ.CZ virtual patients. Also, there was a block devoted to urgent medicine, perioperative medicine, regional anaesthesia and young anaesthesiologist. We really can not forget the section of obstetric anaesthesiology and algesiology, which was led by dr. Štourač and dr. Kosinová. And what were the main take-home messages?
A spinal epidural hematoma is a common but potentially catastrophic complication in the use of neuraxial blockade in pregnant women. Despite many rapid sequence induction modifications, the emphasis remains on prevention of serious desaturation and prevention of aspiration. Anaesthesia is an invisible but necessary part of every operation. To start simulations, a quality and motivated lecture team is more important than owning expensive high fidelity simulators. We can help protect glycocalyx by using protein-based fluids. The ICP as a signal contains much more information than its mere mean value and there is no specific cut off value for the absolute indication of the treatment. Ultrasound can be used to investigate some reversible causes of cardiac arrest (4H, 4T) during cardiopulmonary resuscitation. At the close of this years congress, the chairman of the Czech Society of Anaesthesiology,ˇResuscitation and Intensive Medicine, dr. Cvachovec warmly thanked all guests and attendees and also handed over the last remaining awards. A brief mention was made of the statistics for attendance, which accounted for approximately 550 doctors and 300 non-medical health workers. The AKUTNĚ.CZ reportage team is looking forward to the meeting on the approaching and also the jubilee X. Conference of AKUTNĚ.CZ.
