Psychological preparation of children for surgery
Presence of a parent in front of the entrance to the operating rooms for a child of preschool or early school age:
1. has no justification, children are premedicated, general anesthesia induces retrograde amnesia for the whole procedure
2. has no justification, as research has repeatedly shown that the presence of the parent has no effect on the child's anxiety and crying. The children were crying and scared, even though the parent was there
3. has justification, but only for reassurance of the problematic parent, for whom there is a higher risk of subsequent complaint or lawsuit
4. has justification, because it significantly reduces the risk of psychological trauma of the child, increases the child's cooperation with doctors, nurses. It leads to better management of the whole procedure
